‘Tis the Season

Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone! The Holidays are upon us and what better way to celebrate then with sparkle, sparkle, and more sparkle. This year I’m ringing in the Holidays with full sparkle and so is my sister.

The Holidays are all about making a statement, whether with sparkle, fur or both! Here I have a Sparkle dress and shaggy coat paired with knee high socks. Annie took a more subtle approach with lace accents on her maxi sweater with an all over lace dress. She added the sparkle with a crown to top off the look.

Braids and curls are a classic way to get all done up for any holiday gathering whether with family or friends.DSC01103

Keep the color palette simple. Reds, Greens, Golds, Silvers, Blacks and Whites. Any of these combinations can be festive but don’t have to scream holiday if you’re attending a more low key affair and you don’t want to break out the ugly sweater.

Holiday Cheer.

Hello Guys and Dolls, This semester really took a toll on me at the tail end but I am back just in time for the Holidays!!

What to wear for those holiday parties can be extremely stressful on top of worrying about the gifts and making your dip to pass etc.. So never fear, that’s what  I am here for. The holidays are about being as festive as possible in my opinion. No, seriously go all out!

Here are some tips for creating the perfect holiday look

1. Find an Ugly Christmas Sweater. Nothing sets the mood more than a conversation piece. Raid your local thrift shops and find a doozy.

Here’s some good examples, though I’m still looking for one that lights up.

2. Wear Festive Colors.  Dive right in with the red and Green, even throw in some gold, sliver and white. The more festive the better.

3. Colored Tights. For those more going out looks, throw on a pair of colored tights with your little black dress for some holiday cheer that is also ready to hit the town.

4. Sparkle. Need I say more.

There are so many ways to sparkle, and the holidays are a great time to take it to the next level.

5 Velvet. Nothing says holiday party like a good velvet dress.

6. Heels.  preferably black.

7. Statement Necklace. Add some jewels to your look for an elegant finish to any holiday attire.

(And a good crown always brings the holiday cheer to any party).

8. Smile . As corny as that sounds, smile and have fun with it. It doesn’t get better thank spending the holiday season with the ones you love.  Laugh, smile, be merry.

Sparkle and Lace

sparkle 4We’re moving into the Holiday season, surprisingly Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away! Which means Holiday attire. When it comes to Holiday attire there are two things to remember:

Sparkle and Lace.

A little shimmer and a little lace is the perfect combination for holiday attire. And curls, curls and more curls! For Thanksgiving especially, you want to be comfortable in preparation for that food coma at the end of the night. Simply pair a lacey, breezy tunic with your “fat” pants, add some sparkles in the accessories and pair with a cute wedge. Stylish and prepared, that’s how I like it!

Land of the Free

Now, I am usually not the type to jump on holiday ware, or the over eccentric holiday enthusiast but I was listening to the radio on my way to work one morning and the radio announcers were explaining a study recently conducted. The results of this study showed that approximately 1 in 4 Americas don’t know why we celebrate the 4th of July. And 1 in 4 of the people who do know, cannot tell you what country we received independence from. This saddens me. To be honest, I took a citizenship  test in participation in government class just to see if i’d pass…and well let’s just say I’m glad I was born here. History is not my thing. But the 4th of July is at the core of our countries foundation. How can 25% of the country not know what happened on that day?

So I decided this fourth of July to grab my sisters, and some flags and really celebrate our freedom. To spend some time not only goofing off in the field but really remembering the people who still fight everyday to keep our freedom. So thank you to those who are serving and continue to serve.
