With Glittering Eyes

” And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

-Roald Dahl

The past few weeks have been incredibly busy, so I have been searching the archives for some of my favorite throwback shoots to show you all. This photo shoot was part of a motion study for my photography class two semesters ago. This is one of my favorite shoots of all time because the results came out different than I intended, and well I spent a few hours throwing glitter at my sister (what could be more fun?) This project I believe was the launching point of this blog. It got me focused on the beautiful reality we live in and shifted goals on entering the fashion industry. The fashion industry can reveal the beauty in everyone no matter what size, shape, or in this case age you are. Fashion can be used a tool to boost confidence and narrow the gap between women by breaking down competitive walls. Fashion can only do this if its focused is shifted because right now the industry sometimes is doing quite the opposite. The world needs more magic, or maybe a few more people watching the world with glittering eyes.

She’s so Fancy (Photographer Edition): Molly

My mom’s friend Molly a few months ago did a photo session with my sister and I for a project she titled Made to be Free. You can find the full gallery here

Here is my personal favorite from this series.

She has such an eye for expressing a person’s natural, God-given beauty and of course all she has a keen eye for fashion as well.

Molly is a beauty and here are some interesting facts about her:

1. Her dog has been to the vet more times than any other dog. Included but not limited to the time her eat a bag of expresso beans.

2. She works at a pregnancy center serving pregnant women. She’s a star!

3. She always seems to find the BEST thrift and consignment deals. Her talent is unrivaled, hands down. Needless to say I need to take her with me thrifting because I am not so lucky in that department.

Molly came up for a business trip to good ‘ole upstate New York and we made time to fit in a little photo session in my back yard. Here is some of her best shots.

Molly’s entire philosophy surrounding her series was to live in the freedom we have been given, and to embrace all forms of beauty. In the end that’s what  Proprium Floris is all about. Embracing and expressing many forms of beauty, no matter what size, shape, height, color, complexion. This type of freedom currently isn’t embraced by the fashion industry so I want to encourage the broadening of the industry to include more types of beauties. Everyone is free to be beautiful and fashion is not just for models.
