He’s So Fancy: Curtis

IMG_5504

Meet Curtis. My best friend.

Here are some fun facts about him:

1. Curtis has a strong hatred for cats, to the point where sometimes I believe he’s afraid of them…and I like to make fun of him for it. (Even though, I myself, am not a fan of cats but, he doesn’t need to know that.)

2.  He is a man, who owns his very own Tardis. Honest.

3.  He loves a good independent film, no matter universally terrible independent film endings are. ( I highly suggest After the Dark. That is our favorite).

Curtis and I live in the same hometown and now go to the same college. He has been my companion for about three years now and actually, we first met at my senior prom (insert Awwwww).  His style is almost as killer as his heart. And let’s face it, the camera loves him.

Curtis loves bold patterns and man accessories, which I am a personally a huge fan of. He shows off his style in a tribal button up, gray pants, combat oxford boots paired with a pocket-watch necklace, ring, bracelets and a corduroy cap.

Check out his band, called twisted vibes. (He’s the lead singer) They have an ep out! Find out all about them here

Lastly, this note is for you Curtis. Thanks for being my sunshine on cloudy days. Sometimes I make my own clouds and you make them go away despite my sass. Thanks for being my best friend and model. I love you dear.

Julia loves mixing prints, especially retro ones and her pin-upesque style has me inspired. From her nude heels to her bow tights, this girls got it going on! Her makeup routine usually involves cat-eye liner and some truly red lipstick.   Some gingham and high waisted shorts paired with sheer bow tights encompasses her unique look. Im obsessed with her closet full of fitted dresses, polka dots and thrift store finds.

Gatsby.

A Few months back my school had a 1920’s Gatsby Masquerade ball.

I took this theme extremely seriously .

I started a Pinterest board you can find here. This board was filled with different trend reminiscent of the 1920’s.

Popular threads I found in twenties style was drop waist or shift styled dress, the illusion of short hair, pearls, and lots of glamour. Women were becoming more risky in their attire, raising the hem line and shortening the hair. And if I was going to a Gatsby themed party I of course had to watch the new Great Gatsby movie, which is one of my favorite. I drew a lot of inspiration from attire in that movie.

The ball itself was a blast, and here’s how myself and some of my friends went.

So when it comes to themed parties. Do your research and go all out! I wore a column dress (ASOS) and gold headpiece (ASOS), my mother’s pearl bracelet paired with tights and t-strap heels I found at a thrift shop. My friend dolled me up with some classic makeup and a faux bob to tie the whole twenties look together.

Yo what the Heck did I wear before this?

“Whenever I buy new clothes, I take the home and I’m just like yo what the heck did I wear before I had this”

I saw this quote in my Instagram feed and it couldn’t be more true today because I bought a new dress, and I’m never taking it off.

This slip-dress is perfect for the summer to show off those straps, but can also be paired with some tights and jacket for those colder spring days. Throw on some chunky heels and some jewels and you’re off. It goes with everything and like I said, Im never taking it off.
